NALA is excited to announce the opening of the 2026 Flax Fiber Surveys! Last year’s inaugural
Survey of Flax Fiber provided the data behind our Status of Flax Fiber Report. This year, we’re
expanding that work, and your input is critical to building the case for a thriving flax fiber industry
in North America.
This year there are two separate surveys targeting different areas of the supply chain: the
Grower & Processor Survey is for growers and organizations involved in growing, harvesting,
retting, scutching/decortication, and other primary preparation of fiber flax, including
Universities and research/demonstration producers. The data we collect will establish the North
American fiber flax production baseline, understand cultivation, harvest and primary processing
capacity, and identify the economic and infrastructure constraints to expansion.
The Industry Survey is designed to quantify market interest in North American fiber flax,
understand adoption requirements, identify potential demand, and establish what is necessary
to justify investment and scale-up. We are excited to include companies, manufacturers,
downstream processors, universities/research organizations, distributors, and other
organizations evaluating, purchasing, converting, specifying, or using flax-derived materials in
this survey so we can gather a holistic picture of the industry opportunity.
The surveys are open until October 31st and we invite anyone in North America who is growing
fiber flax to respond. You can access the surveys using these links:

If you are a grower, processor or consumer of fiber flax – or know someone who is – we invite
you to respond to the surveys today!
